AboutArtApartments – By the river Overview

AboutArtApartments – By the river sits tucked away on plac Jana Pawła II, right in the heart of Stare Miasto, Wrocław. I first spotted it while strolling past the old stone facades of the city’s historic center, the smell of roasting chestnuts floating in the air from a nearby kiosk. The building’s façade was a charming mix of brick and glass, hinting at the artistic vibe inside. Check‑in was a breeze—staff greeted me with a warm smile and a quick rundown of the apartment layout, plus a discreet map of the best spots to hit when the day’s tiredness starts to creep in. They even handed over a small, locally-made wooden keychain that I still keep as a souvenir (and a handy reminder of the friendly reception).

The apartment itself feels more like a loft in a gallery than a standard hotel room—open space, high ceilings, and a large window that opens onto the peaceful Oder River. Honestly, the view is a highlight: you can see the city’s rooftops and the river’s gentle ripple, especially at sunset when the sky turns all shades of pink and gold. The living area is cozy, with a plush sofa that invites you to curl up with a book or a glass of Wrocław’s famous craft beer from the local brewery on Kazimierza Wielka. The kitchen is surprisingly well-equipped for a 3‑star place; I even managed to whip up a simple breakfast of fresh bread and local cheese—tastefully reminiscent of a Polish home. The bathroom has a surprisingly generous shower area, and the tiles feel cool underfoot, a nice contrast to the warm living room.

Parking can be a bit of a puzzle. Street parking is available, but you have to be ready to swipe a card at the pay‑station or use the app for about 5 PLN per hour. If you’re staying longer, the hotel offers a small underground lot for a flat monthly fee—nice, but a bit on the pricier side. As for noise, you’ll find that the apartment is sound‑proofed to a decent degree; the only significant noise comes from the occasional evening traffic on Jana Pawła II and the distant chatter of people at the popular “Restauracja Trzy Kruki” across the street, which is a local favorite for pierogi. I caught a couple of late‑night conversations over my balcony, and the city’s heartbeat—vibrant, rhythmic, and alive—was palpable.

The real charm, though, lies in the neighborhood. Stare Miasto is a maze of cobblestone streets, but the hotel staff knows the hidden gems: a tiny, tucked‑away café on Głogowska that serves the best espresso in town, and a historic tile‑work museum just a five‑minute walk away. If you’re craving something more adventurous, the local market on Rynkowe Street offers fresh produce, artisan bread, and a selection of regional cheeses that never disappoint. For a late afternoon stroll, head to the Oder River promenade where locals gather for a leisurely walk, and you’ll catch the scent of fresh cut grass and the faint hum of a nearby jazz club.

In the summer, the area buzzes with tourists and locals alike, especially around the “Kino Mistrz” cinema and the riverfront festivals. I found the apartment a bit warmer during those peak months, but the ventilation was adequate. Winter, on the other hand, transforms Wrocław into a quiet, snow‑soft landscape; you can hear the wind through the trees and the muffled traffic sounds, and the apartment’s heating system keeps the space comfortably toasty. The rating of 9.1 on the platform speaks volumes—most guests rave about the authenticity and the personal touch you get from the staff, and they love that the place feels like a creative, welcoming home rather than a corporate space.

All in all, staying at felt like an invitation to live a slice of Wrocław’s everyday life. You get the city’s historic charm, the buzz of local cafés, and the serenity of a riverside view—all wrapped up in a place that feels less like a hotel and more like a creative retreat. If you’re looking for a place that offers both convenience and a touch of local character, this spot is a solid pick; especially if you’re a traveler who appreciates a blend of art, comfort, and genuine, friendly hospitality.

I had a fantastic stay at this apartment. It was very modern and well designed in a just refurbished historical building with a high ceiling.
What I really want to point out are the add-ons, which are really appreciated and I didn’t expect : bottles of water on arrival, coffee machine including coffee beans, soap, shampoo, and shower liquid…
The area is on a very high-level and very close to the old town. furthermore, I was warmly welcomed and supported, and a nice and professional way by the staff. so I can definitely recommend this apartment.

Brilliant location – close enough to walk into the centre but far enough away that it wasn’t noisy at night. Apartment was very clean and well presented. The city as a whole is beautiful and feels very safe. We would definitely return.
