The building itself has that solid, unpretentious Polish architecture thing going on – you know, the kind that’s been quietly doing its job since the 1970s and somehow still manages to feel perfectly adequate. When you buzz up to the third floor – yes, stairs, but they’re actually quite manageable – you’re immediately hit with this faint smell of fresh coffee and something like vanilla that I couldn’t quite place. Turned out to be the cleaning products they use, but in the best possible way.

The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect from a three-star place, and there’s definitely been some thought put into the layout that you can tell wasn’t just copied from a template. The kitchen area has real appliances – not just those showpiece ones that look good in photos but are useless – and I actually ended up cooking a full dinner my second night because it felt more like being in someone’s actual flat than a hotel room. The windows face the quieter side of the building, which was a blessing because even though you’re right in the heart of Śródmieście, you’re buffered enough from the main drag that the noise doesn’t really penetrate after about 10 PM. Though I should mention the morning delivery trucks start up around 7 AM, which isn’t Apartament 60’s fault obviously, but good to know if you’re a light sleeper. The bed? Honestly, it’s one of those where you wake up and think “oh, that’s why I packed light” because there’s no back pain come morning.

What really sold me on this spot was how it sits in relation to everything – you’re a two-minute walk from the Market Square, but here’s the thing: you’re on the side that faces toward the river, so you can actually escape the tourist crowds pretty quickly just by heading a block or two in the opposite direction. There’s this brilliant little bakery called Piekarnia Śląska right around the corner that does the most incredible rye bread sandwiches, and nobody’s ever there except locals grabbing their morning coffee. The check-in experience was refreshingly straightforward – no fuss, no trying to upsell you on breakfast you’ll never eat – just a friendly guy who seemed genuinely happy to see you weren’t completely lost. Parking’s tricky if you’re driving, but honestly, once you’re in this part of Wrocław, everything’s walkable anyway. I mean, the whole point of staying in the Old Town is being able to stumble to Plac Solny without checking a map, right? The Wi-Fi worked exactly as promised, the shower pressure was solid, and there’s this little detail I loved – they’d left a handwritten note about which bins to use for recycling, which sounds small but shows they actually care about the neighborhood they’re part of. You know what, I’d definitely stay at Apartament 60 again, especially if I was planning to actually explore Wrocław proper instead of just using the room as a crash pad.
