Apartament Oławska Overview
Apartament Oławska sits right on Oławska Street, smack in the heart of Stare Miasto, so if you’re wandering around the Market Square (Rynek) on a rainy afternoon, you’ll spot it just a few blocks away from the Town Hall and the old City Hall. I’ve been to this place twice now, once in late spring and again in the middle of the summer rush, and it’s the kind of spot that feels like a home base after a day of exploring. The building itself is a tidy 3‑star hotel with a rating of 8.8—so yeah, it’s good, but not over‑the‑top.
The check‑in was painless; the front desk staff were friendly without sounding like they were doing a script, and I was handed a small welcome gift—a bottle of local wine from the Wrocław vineyards. That gesture, small as it was, instantly set the tone. The lobby is modest but cozy, with a few city‑scenic photos on the walls and a faint hint of chamomile tea in the air—probably from the coffee bar inside. The reception desk is located right next to a small outdoor café, which is handy if you want to grab a quick espresso before heading out. Parking is a bit of a hunt, though. There’s a small underground lot on the opposite side of the street, but it fills up fast during peak tourist season, so I’d recommend parking a few blocks north on Głogowska and walking the short distance—plus you get to see more of the old town.
Room 302, which I stayed in, is an average‑sized single with a king bed that’s surprisingly comfortable for a 3‑star place. The sheets had a subtle linen scent, and the room itself had a muted, earthy color palette that made it feel calm. The bathroom was a bit cramped but fully functional, and the shower had decent water pressure, which is a relief in a city that can get hot. I did notice the bathroom tiles were a bit worn, but the staff replaced a cracked tile the next morning without any fuss. The room’s view from the balcony (yes, there is a balcony—maybe not a balcony, more like a small terrace) looked out onto a quiet street, which was a nice break from the market square’s constant bustle. I could hear the distant bells of the cathedral and the occasional laughter from the street musicians, a soundtrack that made the stay feel authentically Wrocławian.
What I love about this place is how it’s tucked into a real neighborhood vibe. Right outside the door, you can hear the chatter of a local coffee shop and the clink of a bakery’s baking pans—there’s a bakery on Jagiellońska Street that’s just a two‑minute walk away, serving the best sourdough you’ll ever taste. If you’re a foodie, the “Złota Trąba” restaurant on Baranów Street is just a block over and offers a great view of the old town at sunset. And if you’re curious about university life, the campus of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology is a short walk away, where you can spot students hustling between classes, some carrying laptops and others just strolling.
Honestly, the only downside is that the hotel’s Wi‑Fi is a bit spotty—just a patch of unreliable connection in the lounge area, but you can always step outside onto the street and grab a stronger signal from a nearby café. Another minor critique is that the minibar is almost empty; they probably expect you to shop at the nearby market instead. But those are small quirks that don’t take away from the overall experience. The staff was attentive, the location was unbeatable, and the ambiance felt like an insider’s pass to the city’s daily rhythm. If you’re planning a trip to Wrocław, I’d definitely recommend stopping by as a comfortable, genuine base to soak in the city’s charm.
To book hotel in Wroclaw during the famous Wroclaw European Capital of Culture celebrations, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts cultural enthusiasts and architecture lovers from around the world.
