Apartament Rynek Więzienna Overview

Apartament Rynek Więzienna sits right on Więzienna Street, smack in the heart of Stare Miasto. If you’re walking around the market square, you’ll see the building’s façade in the corner behind the old bakery that still rolls out fresh rye rolls at dawn. I’m telling you, the smell of that bread drifting through the windows is one of Wrocław’s best-kept secrets. The lobby is small but cozy, with a little wooden table that locals use to chat over coffee. The receptionist, Marek, greets you with a smile that feels more personal than the usual “welcome” you’d get at a chain hotel. Check‑in is a breeze—just a keycard, a quick walk to your room, and you’re set. No long queues, no paperwork, just a friendly nod and a “Enjoy your stay” that truly feels like a local’s invitation.

The rooms are a mixed bag of vintage charm and modern touches. I stayed in the second‑floor suite, and honestly, the view of the river Oder from the balcony was a highlight. You can see the dragon fountain on the opposite side of the square, and in the evening the streetlights flicker like fireflies. The bed is big enough to collapse into a couch for a lazy Sunday, and the bathroom has that classic Polskie ceramic feel—smooth tiles, a deep tub that feels like a spa on a budget. The only hiccup? The heating in the room can get a bit drafty in winter, so bring a sweater. The housekeeping staff is quick and discreet, leaving the room spotless without the usual “housekeeping is here” ring.

Getting around is a joy. There’s free street parking a block down, but I found a small, paid spot a few streets over that’s always available. And the tram stops are right on the corner—no need to walk past the market stalls to catch a ride. If you’re a foodie, the street around Słowackiego Street is a goldmine: try the pierogi at the corner shop, and I’ll bet you’ll love the salted fish at the bakery next door. For a quieter evening, head over to the little café on Wrocławska, where the baristas pour coffee like they’re still experimenting. The noise level in the hotel itself is moderate; the city’s chatter comes through the windows, but most nights you’ll hear the distant hum of a passing train rather than the city’s nightlife.

In short, feels like staying in the middle of a living postcard. If you’re visiting in the summer, expect the square to be bustling with tourists and locals alike—perfect for people‑watching. Winter, on the other hand, brings a quiet calm that lets you actually hear your own thoughts, which is rare in a city that never sleeps. The only thing I’d tweak is maybe offering a small welcome snack on arrival—something like a local cheese or a jar of honey would set a truly Wrocławish tone. But honestly, it’s a solid 4‑star experience that makes you feel like you’re part of the neighborhood rather than just a visitor.

Nice flat. Friendly host. All facilieties and even more – there was an ice in the fridge, cofee macshine and tasty coffee capsules

  • Marzena from Poland (10/10)

Location was perfect, the size of the apartment was fantastic for 6 ( two bathrooms – a real life saver for us!)! The apartment is beautiful, easy to access, impeccably clean and has everything one would need! Most importantly, I was in touch with the owner and thanks to the prompt responses, I felt very safe about arriving and getting into the apartment.

the place is perfect very big and fully equipped

  • Milena from Bulgaria (10/10)

The apartment is in the top center, but on a quiet street. However, there is a bar underneath, but with the windows closed is not noisy. Their is a balcony overlooking the inner yard, which is quite nice when the weather is good. We liked the overall space of the apartment and for a group of 8 people it was comfortable.
