She actually apologized for some construction happening two blocks over, which I thought was sweet since you could hear the occasional truck rumble by around 8 AM. But honestly, if you’re the type to sleep in, you’d never notice.

The apartment I got was a two-bedroom on the third floor, and man, the windows just overlook this quiet courtyard where you can actually hear birds instead of traffic. That’s kind of rare in the city center, you know? The kitchen had all the stuff you’d actually use – not just those sad, dusty spices that sit in Airbnb cabinets forever. There’s this little detail I loved: they keep a Polish coffee brand called “Kawa Z Czasu” in the cabinet, and the owner left a note saying help yourself. I mean, it’s the little things, right? The location is perfect if you’re exploring on foot – you can walk to the Market Square in about ten minutes without cutting through crazy crowds, and there’s this amazing pierogi place called Stary Młyn right around the corner that stays open late. I went back three times, which should tell you something. Oh, and if you’re driving, there’s street parking but honestly, it gets tricky around 5 PM when people are heading home. I’d recommend just taking the tram – there’s a stop literally two minutes away.

What really stuck with me about Golden House was how it felt like a real neighborhood. Not this sterile tourist bubble. I’d see people hanging laundry in the courtyard, or neighbors chatting near the entrance – stuff that makes a place feel alive. The WiFi was solid, which is always a plus when you’re working remotely like I was, and the shower pressure was actually decent, which sounds small but man, you notice it. One thing though – the walls are kind of thin, so you’ll hear conversations from the apartment next door, especially if they’re watching TV. Nothing too disruptive, just something to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper. But overall, Golden House feels like that friend in town who always knows the best local spots and somehow makes your trip just a little bit better than you planned for. I’d definitely go back.
