So I stayed at Big Apart – Atal Towers – 3 Rooms – Private Parking Place last month, and honestly, it’s one of those places that surprised me in the best way. You know how sometimes you book something that looks good on Booking.com but it doesn’t quite live up to the photos? Well, this was the opposite. The apartment’s actually in this unassuming modern building on Sikorskiego street, which sounds fancy but it’s really just a quiet residential spot in Stare Miasto – you’re literally a two-minute walk from the Market Square but somehow it feels worlds away from the tourist chaos.

The whole setup is sort of like having your own little pied-à-terre in the heart of Wrocław. There are only three rooms total, so it feels intimate rather than institutional, you know? My room had this huge window that overlooked a courtyard – actually, that’s probably my only minor complaint, it faced an airshaft, so not much of a view, but honestly who cares when you’ve got a kitchenette that actually works and a bathroom that’s spotless? The floors were that nice hardwood you can still smell the polish on, and the bed? I slept better there than I have in months. Plus, and this is huge for Wrocław, there’s private parking underground. I mean, try finding that anywhere in the old town without paying an arm and a leg – at Big Apart, it’s included.

What really sold me on the place was how it balanced being centrally located with actually feeling peaceful. The neighborhood gets busy around noon when the street performers start gathering near the Town Hall, but by 10 PM everything quiets down nicely. There’s this great little bakery called Piekarnia Kolorowa just around the corner that does the most incredible sourdough – I’m talking fresh-baked every morning, and the smell hits you like a warm hug when you head out for coffee. The owner, Magda, she gave me tips on which restaurants don’t tourist-trap you (avoid anything with live polka music, basically) and where to find the real pierogi places that locals actually go to. Check-in was smooth too; you get the code sent to your phone, no awkward lobby small talk with other guests hanging around. I’d definitely stay at Big Apart again – it’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re in on a little secret.
