Boogie Penthouse Old Town Overview
Boogie Penthouse Old Town sits a stone’s throw from the cobblestone heart of Wrocław’s Stare Miasto, tucked right on Garbary 2, so you’re basically in the middle of the action. The building feels like a 4‑star boutique that’s managed to keep its old‑world charm while still being modern enough to not feel like a relic. I arrived around 3 pm, a bit after the rush that hits the city in the early afternoon, so traffic was still a bit heavy but manageable. The front desk was surprisingly efficient; the staff greeted me with a friendly “Witaj!” and handed over the key card in a matter of seconds, which is a relief if you’ve ever had to wait around the check‑in desk in a big hotel. The lobby itself is airy, with exposed brick walls and a few vintage Polish posters that give it a local vibe. I didn’t notice any major noise in the lobby area, which is nice, but you’ll hear the city’s bustle from the street when you step outside.
The room was surprisingly spacious for a penthouse in the Old Town. The décor leans toward industrial chic – you’ll see exposed pipes and a mix of reclaimed wood, but it’s the cozy throw blanket and the soft lighting that make it feel like a home. The bed is huge, and the linens are top‑notch, so I fell asleep within minutes. I used the Wi‑Fi a lot and it was fast enough for streaming, which is a plus if you’re traveling with a group and need to share playlists or sync up a movie night. The bathroom is a real treat – the shower has a rain‑shower head, and there’s a decent amount of space. I did notice that the heating can be a bit on the low side during the cooler evenings, so you might want to bring an extra sweater just in case. The view from the balcony is a highlight: you can see the spires of St. John’s Cathedral and the cobblestones below, and the city lights look almost like a glittering mosaic at night.
If you’re planning a night out, you’ll appreciate that the hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from Szczepański Square and the famous “Złoty Róg” (Golden Corner) where you can grab a quick pierogi and a cold beer. I recommend heading over to the bar at the “Szpitalna” street for a craft beer; it’s a favorite among locals. For dining, there’s a small bistro in the building that offers a decent breakfast buffet – the croissants were flaky and buttery, and the coffee had that rich, earthy Polish flavor you crave after a night of exploring. As for parking, there’s a paid underground lot just a block away, but be prepared to pay a bit more during peak season – the rates climb up to 20 zł for a day. If you’re driving in, be mindful of the narrow streets; parking spaces are tight and you’ll need to be patient.
Noise-wise, the hotel itself is quiet, but you’ll hear the city’s rhythm outside – the chatter of tourists, the jingle of tram bells, and the occasional street performer playing accordion music. I found the noise manageable during the day, but if you’re a light sleeper, you might want to bring earplugs for the night. The hotel’s check‑in is mid‑afternoon, which is standard, but I appreciated the small personal touch: they handed me a map of the Old Town with some hidden spots marked in red, which turned out to be a great idea. The staff also gave me a list of recommended cafés in the area with free Wi‑Fi, which is handy if you’re working or just want to browse the internet.
Overall, offers a comfortable, locally‑infused stay without the impersonal feel of a chain. The price is a bit higher than a standard 3‑star hotel, but you get the charm of Wrocław’s historical center and the convenience of being close to the city’s main attractions. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the city’s culture, explore the local cafés, and have a cozy yet stylish place to return to at the end of a long day, this place does the job. Just remember to bring an extra sweater for the chilly evenings, and you’ll be set to enjoy the best of Wrocław’s Old Town.
