By the River and City Center – comfortable rooms Overview

By the River and City Center – comfortable rooms has a vibe that feels like a secret corner of Wrocław you only find out about when you’re actually walking the streets with a coffee in hand. I first stumbled upon it on a rainy Thursday while heading to the Market Square, and the little wooden sign over the threshold looked oddly reassuring. The building is a two‑storey heritage block on Odrzańska, right next to the old brewery‑turned‑arts‑gallery that locals call the “Krowodrza” area. If you’re into that scene, the hotel is practically an extension of the neighborhood; you can walk to the river in five minutes, or pop over to the underground cafés on Hutnicza for a late‑night espresso.

The rooms are honestly a mix of comfort and character. I booked a double in the third floor, and the view is a mix of the river’s misty early‑morning and the cobbled streets below. The bed itself is a decent king‑size with a mattress that’s not too firm, but the real win is the small balcony that opens onto a quiet courtyard. You can hear the river’s current, faintly, like a lullaby, and the first thing you’ll notice is the smell of fresh‑baked bread from the bakery on Księcia Bernardy Street across the square. The bathroom is modern enough to feel tidy but still has that old‑world ceramic tile that gives it a little weight. The in‑room TV is a cheap smart TV that actually works, which is a relief after the Wi‑Fi hiccup I experienced at a couple of other hotels in the city center. Speaking of Wi‑Fi, the signal here is solid, though the router is tucked behind a shelf that doubles as a storage unit for a bunch of travel books.

Check‑in was quick and friendly—no long queues because the staff knew me from a previous stay. The front desk offered a map of the city with the best bus routes to the university and the Philharmonic. I found that a little helpful because I didn’t know that the tram on Świętej Trójcy stops right outside the hotel, making it a breeze to get to the university’s student bar, which locals swear by for a cold Piwo. Parking is a bit of a challenge; the nearest street‑parking is metered, so I ended up using the nearby parking garage on Wrocławska, which costs a bit but is well worth the peace of mind. Noise is minimal, except for the occasional traffic rumble and the distant call of a street vendor selling pierogies, which, honestly, is part of the charm. I did have a tiny gripe with the room’s air conditioning—sometimes it just hums and doesn’t cool as well as I’d like, but the staff were quick to bring a fan and a portable cooler on the spot.

In short, the hotel feels like a good middle ground. You’re not paying for a five‑star resort, but you’re also not stuck in a cramped hostel. It’s a neat, reliable base that lets you step into Wrocław’s history while still enjoying modern comforts. If you’re looking to stay close to the river, the historic market, and all the buzzing cafés, this place checks the boxes. And if you’re a bit of a foodie, you’ll love the little espresso shop on the corner of Odrzańska and Rydzówka—it’s the best latte you’ve probably seen in the city. The hotel’s staff, the thoughtful layout, and the unbeatable spot make it a real find for anyone who wants to feel at home while exploring.

  • Wille from Finland (9/10)

Excellent location. The best check-in instructions so far – why don't other places do it like this.
Didn't feel like a hostel, even though the bathroom was shared.

  • Brett from Hong Kong (9/10)

Most things are great! The host is very helpful during my stay. All the messages have been replied very soon with useful info (e.g., wifi password and the use of washing machine). The two-person bed room is spacey and cosy. I can also cook my dinner there.

I feel it would be much better if there are photos showing all the lockers on gates/doors with their corresponding passwords. It took me some time on the first day to get the key. I can imagine for people who arrive in the evening may get nervous for this key hunt exercise. Also, it should be careful if you find you cannot enter the building with the gate locked–it happened to me one evening. The electronic lock at the entrance of the building was not in order due to some reasons. I waited 20 more minutes for a neighbor came out the building.

Clean place, and good location. Good communication in English with the owner.

  • Maryssa from Seychelles (4/10)

The location to reach the apartment is quite complicated and it requires effort in order to reach the apartment. If you are tourist I do not recommend especially if you have big laugage which I did. The shared facilities was off putting and frankly o was hesitant to use it.

  • Alioscia from United Kingdom (5/10)

The room was small, but is very central and the bed comfortable, there was an extra cover in case it would get cold, and a small table in case one would want to work. also an hanger for one's clothes.
