The bed linens smelled fresh, like they’d been line-dried, and there were little touches everywhere, like a guidebook with actual handwritten recommendations in the margins. Parking’s street parking only, so if you’re driving, that might be a bit of a hassle, but honestly, once I was settled in, I barely used my car.

The neighborhood’s got this mix of old Wrocław families and younger folks moving in, so it’s not touristy but you’re not going to get lost trying to find dinner either. There’s a fantastic little wine bar called Trzy Rundy just around the corner that stays open late, and the manager here actually gave me a handwritten list of places to avoid on Saturday nights – turns out the club scene on Kazimierza Wielkiego can get pretty loud after midnight, good to know if you’re staying longer. The area gets busy during university terms, but when I was there in late September, it was perfectly quiet. Wi-fi worked flawlessly, the shower pressure was great, and I mean, waking up in a real neighborhood where people are doing their grocery shopping and kids are heading to school? That’s the kind of detail that makes a place feel authentic, not just another place to crash.
