Old Town CityStay Rynek Overview
So I ended up staying at the Old Town CityStay Rynek last month, and honestly, it was one of those finds that kind of surprised me. I mean, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place, but the moment you step off the cobbled square and into the lobby, there’s this warm, almost homey vibe that immediately puts you at ease. The building itself has that real Wrocław character – you know, that mix of Germanic architecture with those Polish touches that make everything feel lived-in rather than museum-ified. I actually woke up the first morning and just sat by the window for a bit, watching people navigate the market square below – there’s something timeless about that view.
The location is what really sold me, though. You’re literally steps from the Cloth Hall, and if you turn left out front, you can be at the Centrum shopping area in under five minutes. But here’s the thing – and this might be a dealbreaker for some – the rooms on the courtyard side? Absolutely peaceful. The ones facing Rynek 46/47 8 get a bit of morning noise, especially with the cafes and street musicians starting up around 8 AM. I was in room 304, and while you could hear the occasional tram rumbling by, it wasn’t disruptive enough to ruin sleep. The beds, I have to say, are way better than most places in this price range. Proper support, decent pillows – my lower back thanked me after three nights.
What stuck with me most was the check-in experience, actually. The woman at the front desk, Marta I think her name was, knew exactly which restaurants were still serving dinner at 9 PM and which ones tourists should absolutely avoid. She recommended this little pierogi spot on Świdnicka Street that I would’ve walked right past – tiny place, plastic tablecloths, but the best potato dumplings I’ve had outside of my Polish grandmother’s kitchen. The breakfast spread isn’t huge, but it’s solid: fresh bread from the bakery down the block, decent coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting all morning, and the usual continental suspects. Oh, and parking? If you’re driving, there’s a garage about two blocks over, but honestly, once you’re in the old town, everything’s walkable. I ended up not even needing my car after the first day.
