The apartment I had was this sleek one-bedroom on the third floor, and while I’m usually not a fan of modern minimalism, they pulled it off without making it feel cold. The kitchen actually had decent knives, there was a real coffee maker (not that pod nonsense), and someone had thought to put blackout curtains in the bedroom – bless them, because Wrocław’s summer sun is brutal and comes up way too early.

What really impressed me was how RentPlanet managed to feel local without being quirky for the sake of it. The check-in was smooth – guy named Marek met me in the lobby of the building next door, which threw me at first, but it turns out that’s just how they do things there. He knew exactly which restaurants were worth the walk and which ones were tourist traps, and when I mentioned I needed to find a pharmacy on Sunday, he directed me to the 24-hour one on Świdnicka Street instead of just saying “there’s one nearby.” The neighborhood itself is sort of this perfect pocket – you’ve got the bustle of the main squares within walking distance, but if you turn the wrong way down one of those little medieval alleys, you’re suddenly in residential Wrocław where people are just living their lives. There’s this bakery on the corner that opens at 6 AM, and the smell of fresh bread actually woke me up better than the coffee setup in the apartment. I’d definitely go back – especially since finding parking in Stare Miasto can be a nightmare, but they have an agreement with a garage about five minutes away that’s surprisingly reasonable.
