RentPlanet – Port Popowice Overview
So I ended up staying at RentPlanet – Port Popowice last month when I was in Wrocław for a conference, and honestly, it was one of those happy accident discoveries that travelers live for. I’d originally booked something closer to the market square, but thanks to some last-minute schedule changes, I needed somewhere near the university district – and wow, I’m glad I ended up here. The hotel’s actually tucked away on Białowieska Street, which sounds fancy but it’s really just a quiet residential road that backs up against this pretty cool industrial-chic development area. You know what’s great? The smell of fresh bread from the bakery two doors down that hits you every morning when you step outside – seriously, it’s the little things.
The room itself was… well, it’s a 3-star place so you’re not expecting miracles, but it felt thoughtfully put together. I mean, the shower actually had good water pressure (shocking, I know), and there were USB ports built into the nightstand – something my 2019 phone desperately needed. The mattress was surprisingly comfortable, and I slept better there than I have in some 4-star joints. There’s a bit of street noise in the morning, but nothing crazy – mostly just the gentle hum of the city waking up and that bakery smell I keep mentioning. Parking was straightforward too; there’s a small lot behind the building, and the guy at check-in actually gave me a tip about the best pierogi place on Fabryczna Street that wasn’t in any of the guidebooks. The staff there, they’re local, you can tell – not just reading from a script. Check-in was quick, no drama, and they had my room ready even though I arrived at 2 PM.
What really sold me on RentPlanet – Port Popowice was how it connected to the neighborhood. Within a 10-minute walk, you’re hitting the walking paths along the Oder River, and there’s this fantastic little bookstore-café hybrid called Księgarnia Literacka that’s become my new favorite spot for afternoon coffee. The area gets busy in the evenings with students from the nearby university, but it’s that lively-not-loud kind of energy. I’d grab a drink at the craft beer place on the corner – Czarna Róża or something like that – and then wander back through the quieter side streets. Honestly, if you’re looking for that authentic Wrocław experience without the tourist trap prices, this place is a solid bet. I’ve already recommended it to a couple friends who are planning trips to the area, and I’m definitely staying there again if I’m back in the city.
To book hotel in Wroclaw during the famous Wroclaw European Capital of Culture celebrations, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts cultural enthusiasts and architecture lovers from around the world.
