Roof Apartment Overview
So I stayed at the Roof Apartment last month, and honestly, it’s one of those places that surprised me in the best way. You know how sometimes you book something that looks good in photos but doesn’t quite live up to the hype? Well, this was the opposite. The apartment is tucked away on Kotlarska Street, which is one of those quiet little streets just off the main drag in Stare Miasto – you’ll actually miss it if you’re not paying attention, but that’s kind of the point. The entrance is sort of hidden, which feels nice and private, though I should mention the stairs up to the apartment are legit steep, so pack light if you’ve got mobility issues.
The place itself is seriously charming – think exposed brick walls, this amazing old wooden ceiling that’s been beautifully preserved, and these huge windows that face east, so you get this incredible morning light that just floods the entire space. I mean, you can actually smell the fresh bread from the bakery downstairs in the morning, which is both amazing and slightly concerning because you’ll never want to leave. The kitchen has everything you need, and there’s this little balcony that’s perfect for coffee while watching people walk by – very European. The neighborhood is ideal for exploring on foot; you can be in the Market Square in about five minutes, but you’re far enough away from the tourist chaos that it stays quiet, especially after 10 PM when the crowds die down.
What really impressed me was how thoughtful the whole setup felt – they’ve clearly thought about what travelers actually need. There’s a washing machine (bless up), good WiFi speeds, and the bed is actually comfortable, which you can’t always count on in European apartments. I will say the shower situation is a bit tight – it’s one of those European walk-in situations where you’ll want to be careful not to soak everything, but hey, it works. Check-in was smooth once I figured out the building’s entry system, though you’ll definitely want to save the host’s contact info because the intercom is finicky. Oh, and parking in that area is basically impossible during the day, so if you’re driving, just use one of the park-and-ride options and walk or take the tram. The location is perfect for walking to basically everything – there’s a fantastic little grocery on Swidnicka Street that stays open late, and the tram stop at Plac Solny is just a few blocks away. I’d definitely stay here again, especially since it’s not some sterile hotel chain but actually has character and feels like you’re living in the city, not just visiting it.
Exploring Wroclaw offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Poland’s cultural gem, from its magnificent Gothic architecture to its whimsical bronze dwarfs and vibrant student atmosphere.
