Silver Apartments Overview
So I stumbled upon the Silver Apartments during one of those last-minute booking panics, and honestly, it turned out to be one of those happy travel accidents. Located right on Krawiecka Street in Stare Miasto, you’re basically dropped into the heart of Wrocław’s old town without even trying. The address is 3/18 Krawiecka – and don’t worry, the numbering system here can be a little wonky, but you’ll spot it easily enough. What really sold me was how quiet it felt once you stepped inside, despite being smack in the middle of what could be a chaotic area. There’s this little courtyard entrance that sort of wraps around the side, and it smells faintly like fresh bread from the bakery two doors down – which, by the way, opens at 7am and has the best sourdough rolls I’ve had outside of Berlin.
The place itself is rated at four stars, and while I usually take those with a grain of salt, Silver Apartments actually lives up to it. The unit I stayed in had this high ceiling that made everything feel less cramped than your typical European apartment conversion, and the floors were that smooth, worn hardwood you see in older Polish buildings – not luxurious, but somehow comforting. Check-in was straightforward; the host met me downstairs and walked through all the usual stuff – WiFi codes, where the laundry room was, how to work the admittedly ancient washing machine. Speaking of which, if you’re doing laundry during your stay, start it early because it’s loud and slow, but it works. The neighborhood is pretty safe, although like anywhere central, keep an eye on your stuff during the busier summer months when the market crowds roll through. You’ll hear church bells every hour from the nearby Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, which is lovely at first but might get to you if you’re a light sleeper – I actually ended up sleeping better with earplugs after the first night.
What I really appreciated was how Silver Apartments felt lived-in rather than sterilized for tourists. There were little touches like a guidebook to local tram routes (handwritten notes included), and the kitchen had real Polish coffee filters – not exactly what I expected, but it made breakfast feel more authentic. The beds weren’t fancy but were surprisingly comfortable, and the windows faced away from the main street, so even during the late evening summer festivals when everyone’s out until 2am, it stayed relatively peaceful. Wi-Fi held up fine for streaming, which was a bonus when I wanted to call home without burning through my data. Honestly, if you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring Wrocław on foot – and you should, because everything is walkable from here – this spot puts you within five minutes of the Market Square, the Japanese quarter, and enough restaurants to keep you busy for weeks. Just remember to book street parking in advance if you’re driving; the whole area gets pretty tight come weekend market days.
