Szewska 72 – Tectum Apartments Overview

So I stumbled onto this place called Szewska 72 – Tectum Apartments during a weekend trip to Wrocław, and honestly, it’s one of those finds you want to keep to yourself but end up recommending to everyone. It’s tucked right on Szewska Street, which if you don’t know Wrocław, is basically the main drag through the Old Town – but this spot feels surprisingly quiet once you’re inside. The building itself is one of those beautiful pre-war constructions with that classic Wrocław facade, you know the type with the detailed stonework that makes you stop and look up. Check-in was smooth – the host met me in the lobby, which is sort of a shared space with another apartment building, but Szewska 72 has its own entrance code and everything, so you don’t feel like you’re barging into someone’s home.

The apartment I got was a two-bedroom on the third floor, and wow, they weren’t kidding about the “apartment” part – it felt more like staying in someone’s really well-designed flat than a hotel room. The kitchen had actual appliances that worked (I made coffee every morning), and the living room had this huge window overlooking the street below. Now here’s the thing about Wrocław – the nightlife can get pretty loud, especially on Szewska, but Tectum Apartments faces the courtyard side, so it’s actually surprisingly peaceful. I woke up to church bells from St. Elizabeth’s Church, which is just a two-minute walk away, rather than traffic noise. The beds were comfortable, though I should mention the mattress in the smaller bedroom was a bit firmer than I expected – not a dealbreaker, just different from what the website photos suggested.

What really sold me on Szewska 72 was how it positioned me right in the heart of everything. You can walk to the Market Square in literally three minutes, but if you head the other direction down Szewska toward the river, you’ll find some amazing little cafes and restaurants that tourists often miss. There’s this bakery called “Piekarnia Śląska” about five doors down that serves the most incredible sourdough bread – I bought a loaf every morning. Parking was a bit of a puzzle; there’s no dedicated spot, but the host pointed me to a public garage on Garncarska Street that’s a seven-minute walk away and actually cheaper than most hotel parking. During my stay in late September, the area was perfect – not the summer crowds but still plenty of outdoor seating at the cafes. The only minor gripe? The shower water pressure could be better, but again, small thing when you’re staying somewhere this charming.
